About Josien

At 37, Josien is a mum to little Javi and someone who found endurance sport a bit later in life. She first discovered cycling at 27—drawn to the calm, meditative rhythm of long solo rides, especially on her TT bike. That simple love for movement gradually grew into Ironman racing, countless 70.3s, a full Ironman, and eventually the world of ultra cycling, where long distances offered something deeper than athletic achievement.

Alongside her sporting journey, Josien has always worked in a demanding office role. Surprisingly, endurance training didn't compete with her career—it strengthened it. The discipline, structure, and patience she learned through long hours on the bike and on the trails helped her become sharper at work: better at prioritising, faster at decision-making, and far more intentional with her time and energy.

After losing her dad in a car accident, the bike became a place to breathe, think, and grieve. Ultra cycling naturally followed—days on the road, space to process, and challenges that matched the intensity of her emotions. She has completed events like Tortour around Switzerland (1,040 km in 48 hours), Bikingman Aura, and Bikingman Portugal—experiences that shaped her perspective more than the results themselves.

More recently, running has become her grounding force, especially trail and ultra running. The blend of nature, movement, and mental space provides the deepest reset she knows. For Josien, endurance isn't about the medals or the results; it's about clarity, resilience, and finding peace in motion.
